It’s official. Construction has begun on the new facility and it was a red letter day in the life of Harbin Clinic. On Friday, March 26, 2010, over 150 people gathered to witness the groundbreaking ceremony for the Harbin Clinic Cancer Center. Harbin physicians and staff, cityand county officials, and members of the community celebrated the moment with excited anticipation.
The 55,000 square feet facility, located on the corner of Second Avenue and West Fifth Street, is on track to be completed in April 2011. The Friday morning event began witha special prayer by Reverend Dr. Floyd Roebuck, asking for God’s blessing on the grounds, the facility and the clinical work that will go on there. Ken Davis, MD, President and CEO of Harbin Clinic, presided over the event. Bill Todd, President of the Georgia Cancer Coalition shared brief remarks. He commended Harbin’s prominence in clinical research, the world-class credentials of Harbin oncologists, Harbin’s EMR and the organization as a whole. Those particpaitng in the groundbreaking were: Paul Ferguson, M.D., Ken Davis, M.D., Paul Brock, M.D., Matt Mumber, M.D., Missy Dillmon, M.D., J.C. Abdou, M.D., Dilawar Khan, M.D., Bill Todd, and Gerald McCormick, D.O.
