3D/4D
Ultrasound
We
now offer the latest in cutting edge ultrasound
technology
to our patients. As one of the first OB/GYN offices
to offer
3D and 4D ultrasounds this new technology allows the
expectant
parents to see the unborn baby in live 4D motion.
Parents
are able to view the baby's movements from inside
the womb.
In the past the parents were not able to see the
baby's appearance
until after the birth. This new technology allows
the expectant
parents to see what the baby will look like, before
it is
born! This ultrasound is an experience to treasure
for a lifetime.
Expectant parents will be able to view their unborn
child
in a three-dimensional ultrasound with real-time
movement.
We can actually record by DVD or VHS the baby's
movements.
Imagine being able to view a yawn, or seeing your
baby sucking
its thumb. These are magical moments only 3D/4D
ultrasound
can capture. Please review the package pricing and
call (706) 291-1754 for an
appointment.
ESSURE
Sterilization
is the most widely used form of birth control in the
United
States. Traditionally, this has meant tubal ligation
- or
having your tubes tied. But now the Essure
procedure
offers you an alternative to tubal ligation as a
permanent
form of birth control. Unlike tubal ligation and
vasectomy,
there are no incisions or punctures to the body.
Essure
takes about 35 minutes, does not require general
anesthesia,
and provides birth control without hormones. We now
perform
this incision less procedure right here in our
office. Many
patients are able to return to normal activities
within hours
of having the procedure completed. For additional

IMPLANON
IMPLANON™
is a single-rod implant for subdermal use that
offers women
up to 3 years of contraceptive protection. It is
more than
99% effective. Implanon prevents pregnancy in
several ways.
The most important way is by stopping the release of
an egg
from the ovary. IMPLANON™ also changes the mucus in
your cervix
and this change may keep sperm from reaching the
egg. Once
IMPLANON™ is successfully removed, the ability to
become pregnant
usually returns quickly: some women have become
pregnant within
days after removal of IMPLANON™. After removal, if
you do
not want to become pregnant, you should start
another birth
control method right away. IMPLANON is injected
underneath
the skin in our office. For more information visit

MIRENA IUD INSERTION
Mirena is a safe and 99.9% effective
hormone-releasing
intrauterine contraceptive. This device is inserted
into the
uterus as a form of long lasting birth control. Mirena
is not a permanent method of sterilization; it lasts
for up
to five years. Most insurance companies will cover
the Mirena
at 100%. For additional information click on the

COMPLEX CYSTOMETRICS/URODYNAMIC
STUDIES
One way to test for stress urinary incontinence is
to perform
a Complex Cystometrics procedure. Stress urinary
incontinence
occurs when there is a leakage of urine during
regular everyday
activities, such as coughing, sneezing, or giggling.
This
procedure tests and measures how the bladder
operates as it
stores larger amounts of urine during filling. This
procedure
is painless and typically takes one hour to perform.
· Cystoscopy: the physician looks into the urethra and bladder with a small, illuminated telescope-like instrument to rule out stones, growths and foreign bodies (sutures from previous anti-incontinence surgery).
· Urodynamic studies: these are tests that measure pressures in the bladder and urethra simultaneously to tell how both components are working. They are done in an outpatient clinic, take 30-60 minutes, and are not painful.
Uroflowmetry measures and records the amount
and rate
(speed) of urine during voiding.
Cystometrogram measures how the bladder operates
as it
stores larger amounts of urine during filling.
Urethral pressure profile/closure pressure
measures urethral
pressure to determine the urethra's effectiveness as
a closure
valve.
Leak point pressure measures how much pressure
it takes
to open the urethral sphincter (valve) and allow
urine to
leak. Voiding study measures simultaneous pressure
changes
in the urethra (decrease) and bladder (increase) as
bladder
empties during voiding. For additional
information on these
procedures click on the following link: www.acog.com

SURGICAL PROCEDURES
GYNECARE TVT™
Gynecare TVT™ (tension-free vaginal
tape) is
a synthetic mesh tape that prevents urine leakage
during sudden
movement (e.g., laughing, coughing, sneezing) and
while exercising
by reinforcing the ligaments and tissues that
support the
urethra. This minimally invasive procedure is used
to correct
stress incontinence and combined stress and urge
incontinence
in women. For additional information click on the

TRANSVAGINAL SLING
T-Sling offers superior performance
with minimal
complications for stress urinary incontinence. The T-sling
product family offers your doctor several choices to
best
match your individual needs. Patients who undergo
treatment
enjoy a short recovery period with minimal scarring.
As with
any surgical procedure, there are risks and
complications
that may occur. For additional information click

GYNECARE THERMACHOICE
Gynecare Thermachoice is a minimally
invasive
treatment developed to reduce excessive menstrual
bleeding
(the medical term for this is in pre-menopausal
women who
are having heavy periods due to benign
(non-cancerous) causes.
Gynecare Thermachoice which takes
about 30
minutes to perform, is simple, minimally-invasive,
and requires
no hospital stay. It uses heat to treat the
endometrium (the
lining of the uterus), and can be performed under
local anesthesia
and requires no incision. Unlike a hysterectomy,
GYNECARE
THERMACHOICE allows you to preserve your
uterus. Recovery
is fast - many women return to their normal
activities the
next day. For additional information click on the

DIAGNOSTIC LAPAROSCOPY
During Diagnostic Laparoscopy, a
laparoscope
(telescope) designed for medical use is connected to
a high
intensity light and a high-resolution television
camera so
that the surgeon can see what is happening inside of
you.
The laparoscope is put into the abdominal cavity
through a
hollow tube and the image of the inside of your
abdomen is
seen on the television screen. This procedure is
done on an
outpatient basis and recovery time is typically 2-3
days.
In most cases, this procedure (operation) will be
able to
diagnose or help discover where abdominal pain is
coming from.
